PET - "Power Estimating Tool"

The PET is made from about $2.51 (US) of parts from Home Despot. Basically, i bought the cheapest standard outlet, box and cover i could find and modified the outlet. Specifically, the outlet has these little metal tabs on either side, in between the screws where you attach wires. If you break the tabs, the top and bottom plugs are no longer connected, and would be suitable for connecting to seperate power circuits.

I did this to the outlet:

  1. Removed the tab on the right side
  2. Connected the white lead from the powercord to the top screw
  3. Connected the black lead from the powercord to the bottom screw
