There is a fabulous story attributed to my denominational neighbours the Quakers in regards to two men who are travelling on a train in search of a place to settle with their family. The first man gets off the train at a certain town and inquires of an older man who is sitting on the platform, "I must find a new place for my family to settle, and I was wondering what the people are like in this town." "What were the people like in the town you left?" "Mostly they were selfish and mean, really I am glad to get away from that place." "My friend, I am sorry to tell you that the people in this town are the same as in the one you left. You will not find what you are looking for here." A few days later a second man stepped off the train in the same town, and approached the same old man with a question. "I must find a new place for my family to settle, and I was wondering what the people are like in this town." "What were the people like in the town you left?" "Mostly they were very nice, really I am very sorry to have to leave." "My friend, I am very happy to tell you that the people in this town are the same as in the one you left. I am certain that you will find what you are looking for here." It is not only the journey that is important.
